September 15th, 2007 -- Anti-war activists Melida Arredondo, left, and Julie Webster hold images of their sons who served in Iraq during a rally in front of the White House in Washington D.C. last Saturday. In front of them are the boots and a memento filled coffin of Arredondo’s stepson Alex, who was killed in Najaf, Iraq in 2004.

September 15th, 2007 – A protester gets help after being sprayed with chemicals by police near the steps of the Capitol building in Washington D.C. last Saturday. At least one other individual had the same action taken against him.


October 30th, 2007 – After the Red Sox "Rolling Rally" a brawl broke out at Government Center in Boston, MA last Tuesday. Boston City Police showed up eventually but no arrests were made in the incident.

December 9, 2007 – Talk show host Oprah Winfrey gives a speech endorsing Sen. Barack Obama during a campaign rally in Manchester, NH. Winfrey, who has never endorsed a candidate before, said the Illinois Senator is "'the candidate who can change America.”


December 12, 2008 -- Jersey City Police Officer Nathaniel Montanez, the president of the 74th graduating class of the Jersey City Police Academy, hugs his former drill instructor, Detective Rhudy Snelling, after his graduation ceremony held at the Margaret Williams Theater at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, Friday.


September 11, 2008 -- Young members of the Union City community came out to participate in a memorial dedication ceremony and candlelight vigil honoring the four Union City residents who died in the 9/11 attacks, at Liberty Plaza, in Union City.



October 16, 2008 -- A Bayonne firefighter broke through the roof to hose down a fire that occurred on 39th Street and Avenue B in Bayonne, Thursday.



September 12, 2008 -- St. Peter's Prep. fanatics keep their intensity burning before the High School Kickoff Classic game against St. Joseph Regional at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, Friday.


September 18, 2008 -- Kevin Cevasco of St. Peter's Prep., center, jumps over Ferris High's Juan Samaniego to get the ball during a game at the Caven Point Complex in Jersey City, Thursday. The Marauders fought for a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs.


October 9, 2008 -- North Bergen's Hugo Seoane, right, celebrates after scoring a goal during a game against Memorial High at Centennial Field in West New York, Thursday. The Bruins beat the Tigers 2-1.


September 27, 2008 -- St. Peter's Kate McFadden tries a backward spike on Manhattan College at Yanitelli gym in Jersey City, Saturday. St. Peter's defeated Manhattan College 3-0.


October 30th, 2007 – Boston Red Sox closing pitcher Jonathan Papelbon plays air guitar with a broom on a flat bed truck while the Boston based Rock band the Dropkick Murphys played for fans throughout the parade route. The broom is a symbol for the World Series “sweep” the Red Sox pulled on the Colorado Rockies last Sunday.


December 6, 2008 -- Hoboken's Jason Montalvo, right, causes Verona receiver, Mark Holmes, to fumble the ball during the NJSIAA Championship Game at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, Saturday. Verona ended Hoboken's season by beating the Redwings 13-12.

September 22nd, 2007 – Ivan “Heat” Cofield, a Mass Art senior, cuts into cardboard that will be used for the art work he creates for “Splash” at Re-Up in Brighton, MA last Saturday. He intends to give his work to the store as a gift.


August 6, 2008 -- Ashley Reed, left, and Josh Draper from the Brooklyn-based Situ Studio, piece together a pavilion for the attendees at the upcoming All Points West Festival that will be held at Liberty State Park on Saturday in Jersey City, Wednesday.
